VERNON STEVE WEAKLEY has written several successful books and numerous short stories that have brought him acclaim throughout America. He has had major book signings in Washington DC, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Indiana, Arkansas, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Mississippi and all across America. Mr. Weakley is also the author of the national, non-fictional best selling book, “STANDING AT THE EDGE OF MADNESS.”
Vernon Steve Weakley has received many awards and recognitions for his outstanding literary work as well as his many other life accomplishments. Among Mr. Weakley’s many accomplishments is the fact that he was recognized by the CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS as an OUTSTANDING author with a powerful, positive message for the world. As a result of his tremendous meritorious accomplishments in the literary field, Mr. Weakley has been a highly celebrated and featured author at several CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS Expos in Washington DC.
Vernon Steve Weakley is an alumnus of Jackson State University and a graduate of University of Houston. He was also a member of the Jackson State University, Houston Alumni Chapter. VERNON STEVE WEAKLEY is also a legendary member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Jackson State University, Upsilon Epsilon (YE) Chapter, and is currently an active member of Beta Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity in Jackson, Ms. Mr. Weakley was also the “Omega Man of the Year” for two consecutive years in Rho Beta Beta chapter, Houston Texas. in the 9th District. He has also served as the International History Chairman of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and in several District level chairmanships in Omega Psi Phi fraternity in the 9th District.
Vernon Steve Weakley was a member of the Houston Chapter of the NAACP and worked for many years to fund their worthy efforts. He was also the Keynote Speaker for the Georgia NAACP’s prestigious Annual Freedom Fund Banquet. Over the years, Mr. Weakley has tirelessly, successfully worked to advance the cause of the NAACP. For his superb work with the NAACP, he received a meritorious award from that well known, national civil rights organization.
When he was very young, his Mother relocated him, his two brothers and little sister to Jackson, Mississippi. And there, in the super charged racial climate of the deep South, he was influenced, (both positively and negatively) and raised to adulthood. In addition to the love, guidance and spiritual foundation provided by his Mother, his grandparents also played a major role in his upbringing. His parents and the many experiences he encountered in Mississippi influenced the way he perceived the world and the people around him. His Mother and grandparents gave him the strength necessary to survive the life threatening trials and racial tribulations that he endured while growing up in his beloved home state.
As a result of a strong desire to change his life and renew his relationship with God, Mr. Weakley moved to Houston Texas. In his writings, speeches and public life, Mr. Weakley urges his readers to continue to speak out against racism and racial injustice where ever it maybe. His fear is that younger people coming on the scene long behind him, will not deeply appreciate, protect and value the hard fought gains that were paid for in blood, death and suffering by others like Martin Luther King Jr. Mr. Weakley is now happily retired from, but was employed with the United States Treasury Department for over twenty four years. He retired with over 34 years of sterling government service from the IRS. Vernon Steve Weakley was a highly successful and decorated supervisor with that agency for over eighteen years. Additionally, Mr. Weakley was also an active long time member of the Association for the Improvement of Minorities <AIMS> with that federal agency. He personally funds several college scholarships each year for under privileged high school seniors in Texas and Mississippi.
Mr. Weakley is and has been the President/Owner/CEO of the very successful, Thompson/Weakley Music Publishing Company, Mississippi based Omega Records Inc. and VSW Publishing for thirty-four years. He is also the co-owner of Toval/Weakley Records in Houston Texas. Vernon Steve Weakley was also a successful Record Producer with internationally known STAX Records. Mr. Weakley has had several of his songs featured in major movie sound tracks such as “New Jack City,” starring internationally known film star, Wesley Snipes and “Above The Rim,” starring the late Tupac Shakur. Mr. Weakley currently has hit songs (Now and Forever & Let Me Be Your Secret Lover) from his previous career as a nationally know singer that have been recently re-released internationally.
Mr. Weakley is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for ASPIRE COMMUNITY UPLIFT FOUNDATION. This organization is an IRS approved 501c3 and a state of Mississippi certified non profit that assist the under-served and poor throughout America. Mr. Weakley is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Lanier Historical Museum and Arts Guild Inc. This organization is dedicated to promoting the historical accomplishments of Lanier High School in Jackson Ms. Mr. Weakley is also the CEO and founder of Zworldnet Publishing company. This company is known throughout America for it’s literary excellence.
While Mr. Weakley’s life accomplishments are indeed many, he is most proud of his family, beautiful daughter Shinica, his beloved grandsons Langston and Caden, and the fact that he is a born again Christian.
